Bryan Collins formally trained at Wolverhampton University, and now primarily spends his time teaching the craft. As well as being a lecturer in art, Bryan Collins has also worked on television programmes, but it is his talent of creating sculptures which has continued to bring him a huge amount of joy.
A master sculptor
You can tell that Bryan enjoys what he does, and is indeed the master of it, by looking at the sculptures which he has created. Deeply moving and beautiful, his pieces carry levels of emotion which far outstretch their physical size. These are sculptures which are able to tell a story through their shapes.
Freezing time
There is a weight in what Bryan Collins does, as though his sculptures are freeze frames of life, where we are able to take a closer look and reflect upon those moments which can be at the same time heavy with significance but nevertheless fleeting. In the same manner that poetry is able to take some time to zoom in on these kind of points which in life often move by in the flow of time, these sculptures are rich with a kind of meditative power.
