A young talent
Art has always been a major passion for Matthew McHugh. As he graduated from Colorado State University in 2016 with a BFA in Drawing, he is someone who is no doubt staking his claim as being one of the exciting talents to look out for in the future. Having said that, there is so much to be excited by in his work already.
Figurative and experimental
His style is one which poses questions rather than offering concrete answers. Matthew plays around with obscurity and ambiguity, without ever having his pieces lose their fundamental communicative capacity. This mixture of experimentalism and passion for exploring how reality is formed and understood lends itself perfectly to the medium sculpture.
