About the Artist: Rebecca Lardner
Rebecca was born in the coastal town of Swanage. She spent much of her childhood exploring the beautiful Dorset countryside and enjoying the wonderful local coastline. She was fascinated in equal measure by the scenery and the people of the region and they were to become the inspiration for her unique sculptural work.
Having completed an Art Foundation course at Bournemouth and Poole College of Art and Design Rebecca then gained an honours degree in illustration at Liverpool John Moore's university. She has since built a highly successful career as an artist, illustrator and sculptor, gaining many commissions from high profile clients and prestigious institutions. She travels widely to undertake such commissions, has collectors across the globe and exhibits in major galleries across the UK, Europe and the USA.
Her work is in naïve-style and somewhat whimsical. Rebecca Lardner sculptures are also notable for their sense of activity, life and movement. These qualities have seen some critics dub Lardner as the modern LS Lowry although her coastal themes are very different in flavour from Lowry's industrial north. All of her work is informed by the southern English coastline and her signature colour palette is one of subtle blues and greens.
